The Problem
Welcome to the ourboros. The ouroboros used to be a mythical snake, but now you'll know it as the new blog product that I'm working on!
The objective
I have a problem: I always remember the painful, embarrassing, and foolish thoughts I've had, but none of the good stuff. That leads to a lot of catharsis when listening to Taylor Swift's song Anti-Hero (2). When I take a breath the wrong way, it triggers a cascade of memories that make me wonder if I'm indeed older but no wiser. In my worse days, the fear gets so heavy that I only get through the day by pretending it's happening to someone else.
I think we can do better.
For you, I hope that if you've made it this far it's been through a genuine interest in what I have to say and how I say it. If that's the case, then you have a dilemma. Though I write daily as part of my work, it's in another language, under NDA, and stored in a network isolated server that's password protected. As far as I'm aware, that means that you have no way to read any of my writings or thoughts.
The solution
At the root of both of those problems is the same thing: there's not enough of my content in the world. Shocking, the problem isn't that no one wants to read it? Isn't that a bit presumptuous? Well, reader, you're here and as they say, "if you build it, they will come".
That's why a blog will solve both of our problems. Blogs are lightweight, easy to read. You can probably churn through this post in 2 minutes, no sweat. Blogs are low commitment per-post which means that I can easily pivot and experiment. And I read tons of blogs, because software engineers are really funny people who will tell you exactly how to solve difficult problems for free if you're willing to go and read their hilarious dad jokes along the way.
And writing a blog would be something I would do for myself. I don't have any real creative works that I've made for myself to judge me by. And maybe this will suck, but putting something out there is much grander than the complete lack of content I've written before. Take that George RR Martin.
In conclusion...
Welcome to my blog, the ouroboros! What you can expect from this in the future is:
- More of the same! I commit to keeping the ouroborous alive by posting a blog post of similar or worse quality once a month.
- But Different! I have at least three planned upcoming articles of how-to's, philosophical thoughts, and (oh my) poetry to share with you all.
Anyways, thanks so much for making it this far. And I have one last thought to leave you all with. If you too are feeling like the ouroboros, like you've been going and growing and consuming. And there's nothing left to chase except your own tail. Then come along for the ride, send me (e)mails, and we'll figure out how to make more of the world together.
